Spring Surprise!

We thought we had an April baby on the way, but Georgia Mae made her surprise appearance this afternoon. She weighs 5 lb. 8 oz, and she is 19 inches long. if I have my facts right. She is in the neonatal intensive care unit for now because she is five weeks early. Her lungs are not quite developed, so while she is breathing on her own, she is working hard to breathe. However, she seems to be healthy, and we are all hoping things continue to go well  as expected. We each got to go see her for just a couple of minutes, so I snapped one and only one picture. Nathan has more pictures.   Shannon got to hold her right after she was born, and they let her see Georgia as a stop on the way to her own room.  Shannon is doing well, and we visited with her for just a bit before coming home. What a day!

From the sewing room

Week 11 Civil War block - London Square

Civil War Block 10 - Lincoln's Platform

Just a little bit of sunshine - a crib sized quilt for Georgia Mae, due April 25.  Shannon wanted me to make a quilt big enough for a baby and Mama to wrap up in - snuggle time in "The Chair." The top for that quilt is finished, but there was a pile of triangles left from cutting the corners on geese blocks, and I knew I had to use them. I sewed them together, laid them out in rows, put the rows together, bought some fabric for the borders and backing, and viola, a crib quilt.

I am lazy. I do not always add labels, but for my granddaughter....

And Ozzie, helping me update my blog.  Ozzie, how many weeks until Spring Break? Too many!
